Our Gift to the World

Aim For Even: The Daily Dose

“We are all walking contradictions of what ‘normal’ looks like.” Aren’t we, though? This nugget of wisdom passed through my Facebook feed yesterday.

It included thoughtful examples–some people are both gay and Christian; believing in God and science is not impossible; being pro-choice does not mean one cannot be anti-abortion.

The experiences of life change us. Our beliefs shift from one side of the spectrum to the other before returning to center, our core, the pure energy of being.

Balance is a matter of self-preservation nurtured by self-care, I suspect.

Self-care is never a selfish act—

it is simply good stewardship

of the only gift I have,

the gift I was put on earth to offer others.

Parker Palmer

Our existence on earth is an inclusive one, not exclusive. We have no normal to offer, only our individual balance of reconciled beliefs. That is our gift to the world.
